From Manual

Vector SE (Student): pre-stretched reserve closing loop measures 4 1/2″ ± 1/2″. Refer to Vector 3 manual p.33 (SE is an addendum). Mutant uses a pre-stretched loop per manual.

From Manual

The closing loop is the proper length when the first three grommets are stacked and the edges of the side flaps just touch but don't overlap.

These are general reference values compiled from manufacturer manuals. Always confirm the exact length for your specific container serial number against the current owner's manual and any applicable service bulletins.

Measuring & Inspecting Loops

Measure from the base of the eye (where the loop meets the knot) to the tip of the free end, with the loop lying flat and not under tension.

Inspect the loop at every repack for wear, fraying, discoloration, or deformation — especially at grommet contact points.

A loop that is too short makes closing difficult and risks grommet/container damage. A loop that is too long risks a premature or partial opening.

Standard closing loop material: Spectra, or manufacturer-specified material. Never substitute without approval.

Replace loops showing any sign of wear, melting, or thinning — a failed loop can cause a pilot chute in tow or total malfunction.

AAD Cutter Considerations

Cypres cutter requires a specific loop diameter range — verify against the current Cypres service bulletin before installing.

Vigil and Mars (m2) cutters have their own diameter tolerances; never assume interchangeability between AAD brands.

When installing a new loop, confirm the AAD cutter passes cleanly through the loop without binding or excessive slack.

A loop that is too thick for the cutter can prevent AAD activation; too thin can allow premature cutter firing in some cases.
